Picks and Pans – Philadelphia

PICKS:
Mutter Museum

Wax models of syphilitic sores, conjoined twin skeletons, a section of human colon formerly filled with 40 pounds of feces and a whole lot more….basically all the medical oddities you might want to see in a day, or maybe in lifetime.

A Full Plate

Erica highly recommends the Elvis cake. It has peanut butter, chocolate and banana in perfect cake-y proportions.

Brown Betty’s

The red velvet cupcakes were practically perfect in every way….plus they were named the “Road Trip Cupcake”, so we just couldn’t resist!

Chubby’s cheese steaks

No explanation necessary. If you’re in Philly, you must eat the cheese steak. Chubby’s also makes a kick butt pepper relish to top everything off.

Wissahickon Valley Park

Bikeable, hikeable wilderness in the midst of Philadelphia.

Sedgely Woods Disc Golf Course

Nice disc golf course with long technical holes. Be sure to play the extra holes on the back end of the course to check out some good views of the trains, city and graffiti at Cliff’s house.

PANS:
Route 1 from Jersey City to the junction with 95

There are stop lights, lots of traffic and sufficient sources of frustration for everyone on the road.
