Tandemonium in Philly

with all due credit to E.B. Browning

Philly, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways.
We love thee from the Schuykill to the Delaware,
from N 30th Street to the zoo bridge.
We love thee to the depth and breadth and height
our tandem bicycles can reach.
We love thee to the level of everyday’s
most quiet need for cheese steaks and cupcakes.
We love thee freely, purely and deeply
for thy Quaker ways and thy dedication to old school hip hop.
And, if the road gods choose, we shall love thee
all the more on our next journey to the Girard Street exit.

On a less sonnet-y note, Philadelphia was our first road trip stop and was made most excellent thanks to Philly’s coolest of the cool — Jeanette and Jamie. We toured in style with the use of J + J’s Schwinn Twinn tandem. We saw medical oddities at the Mutter, fraternized with the natives (yeah, Baltz Street Radio, that one’s for you) and glutted ourselves on the finest of Chubby’s cheese steak offerings. Not to mention kickball madness with J + J’s posse, hiking in the Wissahickon and (from what Sean and Ian tell me) one of the best disc golf courses on the eastern seaboard. Way to set the bar high, Philly!
