Athens is a cool little college town with a music scene recommended by the drummer of the rockin’ funk bank, Entropy, that we saw in Boone. A mere 75K people (200 in urban area) make this little city a mecca for music and art. Locals complain that it can feel a little too “small-town” sometimes (apparently going to the grocery store can be a lengthy social experience), but nobody we met had any desire to leave.
