The triangle formed by Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill seems to encompass a lot of cool stuff to see and do (especially the small area around Duke that we explored). Unfortunately, we only got to spend a day there and so don’t have too many specifics, but we were certainly happy with the few things we had time to do (mostly eat, drink coffee and use the internet!).<\/p>\n

PICKS:<\/strong>
\nClyde Cooper’s Barbeque<\/a> in Raleigh<\/p>\n

Clyde Cooper’s is an old time BBQ joint…nothing fancy, just some Carolina smoked pork and all the proper Southern fixings (collards, hush puppies, butter beans, slaw…you know, the works). We were so full afterwards that we had to find a spot to park the van and take a nap.<\/div>\n

Locopops<\/a> in Durham<\/p>\n

Since we were so full from our very late lunch at Clyde Cooper’s, we couldn’t handle another meal, so we headed into Locopops where we could choose popsicles from a list including mango chile, red bean, key lime pie, nutter butter and pomegranate cherry. I relished my tangerine basil popsicle and Sean’s strawberry cream, although not the most exotic choice, was down right delectable.<\/div>\n

Bean Traders<\/a> in Durham<\/p>\n

Ninth street in Durham is lined with all kinds of local restaurants, bars, bookshops and the like…and to our pleasant surprise, also had a coffee shop that was open until 11pm. Bean Traders was a great place to get caught up on our website and relax before crashing into bed.<\/div>\n

Another good wifi and coffee spot. We spent the morning planning our route all the way up through Louisana (hooray, we’ll be in New Orleans for the first weekend of JazzFest!!) and gathering all the necessary info for our adventures in the Great Smokys.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
