Charlotte is an interesting city with a rich history. Everyone outside Charlotte talks about it as a “banking city”, stemming from the HUGE banking explosion when North Carolina National Bank<\/a> (now Bank of America) took advantage of a loophole in banking law that allowed non-bank entities to own banks across state lines. It does have a strong banking feel, but some up and coming culture too.

\n<\/strong>Price’s Chicken Coop<\/a><\/p>\n

We found this hole in the wall Charlotte classic in our Roadfood book (Thanks, Meg!!). We got 4 pieces of delectable fried chicken, hush puppies, tater tots, slaw and potato salad for about $10 total!! Do NOT miss this place if you’re in Charlotte.<\/div>\n

Freedom Park<\/a><\/p>\n

We enjoyed the spring blossoms while having a fried chicken picnic dinner at this park. We liked it so much we came back the next day to eat our lunch.<\/div>\n

Levine Museum of the New South<\/a><\/p>\n

Their exhibit on the history of Charlotte answered many of our questions about the Southern economy and taught us a lot about post-Civil War society in North Carolina.<\/div>\n
